Rialto Community Drug Team

Rialto Community Drug Team is 30 years old in 2022.  We were the first community drug team to be established in Ireland.

What we do

The Rialto Community Drug Team is a community-based harm reduction response to alcohol and drug use in the local area and beyond. In brief, we strive to be a welcoming, open access and low threshold approach to working with those who use alcohol and drugs, offering a range of psycho-social supports, inclusive, non-judgemental and user-friendly services.

Mission

 Our mission is to care and support individuals, families and children affected by addiction in our community to inspire change and growth, reduce harm and increase choice.

Values

Rialto Community Drug Team acknowledges the connections between addiction, social, cultural and economic circumstances including poverty.

We are respectful of diversity, difference and choice.  Our commitment to human rights, social justice and equality underlies the principles and ethos of our service. We aim to provide inclusive, culturally appropriate, and community-based services.

We ensure that our services are responsive to service user need, engaging, welcoming and open to all.  Our services and supports are compassionate, and trauma informed.

We offer a full spectrum of care, advocacy and support, if we are not in a position to support individuals, we offer referrals to other services.

Other Work

We fully commit ourselves to a community development approach in all our work recognising the need to work closely in genuine partnership with individuals, groups in the local community and statutory organisations.  Rialto Community Drug Team also works collaboratively with other addiction, social care, statutory and community agencies and we are actively engaged with the Canal Communities Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force, and its Sub Committees and Dublin City Council Housing.

Our services are funded by the HSE (Section 39 and Social Inclusion), the Canal Communities Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force and Dept. of Justice.

We are in the final stages of reviewing our Strategic Plan,
‘Inspiring Change & Growth, Reducing Harm, Increasing Choices, 2022 – 2025’.
